2013 Top Fives – The Big Ones

Another epic year of enduro is about to draw to a close. It’s been a rollercoaster of emotions – highs and lows and everything in-between. On track the racing was incredible across all disciplines. And off it there were lots to talk about too. Here are five of the biggest features we ran in 2013 and let’s look forward to another fun-filled 12 months…

1. First Look – 2014 Husqvarna Models

Date: 05.10.13

When news broke in May that Husqvarna and Husaberg would be merged into one everyone eagerly awaited the launch of the 2014 models. Finally, in October, Husqvarna unveiled their 2014 model range and unsurprisingly it rapidly became our most popular feature of the year.

2. Bike Prep – Jonny Walker’s KTM 300 EXC

Date: 20.09.13

Factory prepped bikes are always that extra bit special. Lovingly prepared by Julian Stevens, Enduro21 took a closer look at how Jonny Walker’s KTM 300 EXC was readied for the Red Bull Sea to Sky.

3. My Ride – Antoine Meo’s KTM 125 EXC

Date: 06.09.13

More factory goodness from the guys at KTM. When Antoine Meo arrived to the final round of the EWC in France armed with a 125 two-stroke, we just had to get out our cameras. Riding the 125 in France was a matter of pride for Meo. A firm lover of the two-stroke, he wanted to prove that in the right hands the bike is more than capable of winning. And in the worst conditions seen for some time, Meo did exactly that.

4. Video – Hells Gate 2013

Date: 19.02.13

This year marked the 10th anniversary of the legendary Hells Gate Hard Enduro in Italy and it didn’t fail to disappoint. It snowed heavily, Graham Jarvis secured his third victory, Jonny Walker almost fainted on the podium as he beat Cody Webb to the runner-up result and the atmosphere on Hell’s Peak was electric. Roll on 2014!

5. Video – Guy Flips Dirt Bike Into River

Date: 23.09.13

We love stumbling across videos like these – especially when our Facebook followers send it in – and we were in fits of laughter posting it too. The title is self-explanatory – guy flips dirt bike into river – it’s bloody hilarious.

Honorary Mention: Tested – 2014 Husqvarna TE 250

Date: 10.10.13

Missing out on a place inside the top five by just a few votes is enduro21’s first ever bike test. Granted a golden ticket to sample one of the first rides on the all-new Husqvarna MY14 range, we jetted our chief tester Llel Pavey out to Sweden. Here’s his opinion on the Husqvarna TE 250.

#1 Regram of 2013: Taylor Robert’s Huge EnduroCross Jump

Date: 11.11.13

Social media is an important part of enduro21. We work hard to keep both our Facebook and Twitter pages up to date and we also love sharing the content posted by riders and industry members themselves. Topping the charts of ‘regrammed’ social media posts is Taylor Robert’s insane triple jump at penultimate round of the AMA EnduroCross Championship. Ten out of ten for style!
