60-Second Update – EWC Romania, SuperTest

Husqvarna’s Matti Seistola got the fifth round of the Enduro World Championship in Romania off to a flying start with victory in the Friday SuperTest.

Despite being the last rider of the evening to start the SuperTest it didn’t stop Seistola from setting the fastest time. With darkness creeping in, Seistola went 1/100th of a second faster than KTM’s Johnny Aubert to grab the quickest time of the night and secure an early lead in the Enduro 1 class.

Lining up beside Seistola in the SuperTest, E1 class leader Antoine Meo (KTM) didn’t have the match of his Finnish rival and had to settle for second place. Juha Salminen (Husqvarna) ended his night less than two seconds behind Seistola to place third in E1.

Missing out on the overall fastest time, KTM’s Johnny Aubert still topped the Enduro 2 class. Mastering the dry and dusty conditions he edged out Alex Salvini (Honda) by 1/10th of a second. With Salvini second, Pela Renet (Husaberg) took third.

In the Enduro 3 class it was KTM’s Christophe Nambotin who posted the fastest time. Finishing just over a second behind Nambotin, Husaberg’s Mathias Bellino was second while Aigar Leok delivered a solid ride to place third.

Matt Philips (Husqvarna) quickly found his rhythm on the fast flowing test to comfortably top the Enduro Junior class. Swede Robert Kvarnstrom (Beta) ended his night just one second behind the Australian to take second while Loic Larrieu (Husaberg) set the third fastest time.

Getting his GP of Romania off to a perfect start, Husaberg’s Jamie McCanney finished over three seconds clear of Albin Elowson to take an early lead in the Enduro Youth Cup class.

Newly Honda mounted Laia Sanz easily set the fastest time in the Women’s Cup.
