Set to ensure that the 20th anniversary of ErzbergRodeo is one to remember both Taddy Blazusiak and Juha Salminen have signed up to compete at Erzberg XX. David Knight still an unknown.
Yes, both Blazusiak and Salminen have confirmed that they’ll tackle the Iron Giant in Austria this June. After a two-year absence, Blazusiak is back. Intending to race last year, the five-time winner of the Red Bull Hare Scramble was ruled out due to injury. After deciding to attend the race anyway it seems the lure of the Iron Giant was too much to bear so he’s returning to give Graham Jarvis, Jonny Walker and everyone else a run for it.
Despite announcing his retirement from the EWC, Juha Salminen is still busier than ever with Husqvarna Motorcycles. Salminen won the race in 2001 and bagged a podium during Blazusiak’s reign so he knows his way around the place. Count him in for a surprise result.
Salminen is no stranger to success at Erzberg…
Graham Jarvis, Jonny Walker, Andreas Lettenbichler, Alfredo Gomez, Ben and Dan Hemingway, Paul Bolton, Dougie Lampkin, Japan’s Taichi Tanaka and Wade Young are just some of the frontrunners that will race. But David Knight has yet to weigh in.
Knight’s plans for 2014 are Hard Enduro and with the Red Bull Hare Scramble the biggest one of them all it seems a strange one to miss. Entered for next month’s The Tough One at Hawkstone Park, we’ll know soon enough if the Manxman will bid for his third title at the Iron Giant in June.
With less than 80 days to go until Erzberg XX, this one is shaping up to be a cracker…
