In case you hadn’t noticed, The Tough One celebrates its 10th edition this Saturday at Hawkstone Park in the UK. Enduro21 takes a look at the history of the event plus the bits you need to know about for 2014…
The Tough One Facts
Three people have only ever won The Tough One – David Knight, Taddy Blazusiak and Graham Jarvis. Will we see a fourth in 2014?
Graham Jarvis gave Husaberg three Tough One wins but it was Tom Sagar who secured them their first podium by finishing as runner-up to Blazusiak in 2009.
David Knight is The Tough One King. He’s won it five times but hasn’t raced it since 2010. He’s back to try and make it six on Saturday.
This will be the second time The Tough One has moved venue. Once to Back Cown Quarry in 2011 and now Hawkstone Park.
Jonny Walker only made his Tough One debut in 2013.

Graham Jarvis announced he’ll race a four-stroke on Saturday while the majority of the Pro’s will contest two strokes. Will his gamble pay off?
The Tough One is the only Hard Enduro where riders face a Le Mans style start to the race. Suited and booted, the 100m dash will get everyone’s heart pounding before they even throw a leg over the bike.
Paul Bolton has form at Hawkstone Park. This is the first time The Tough One will be held there but as a tester for 2014, Steve Ireland and WOR Events actually ran a Hard Enduro race there last year and Paul Bolton beat Ben Hemingway to win.
Don’t be fooled in thinking The Tough One has been tamed down because it’s at a motocross track. No way. It’s the bits in the surrounding woodland that provide the real scare.
There will be three races:
- 8.30am – Sportsman, 2hours
- 11am – Clubman, 2 hours
- 2pm – The Tough One main event, 3 hours
Entrance fees:
- Adults – £15
- Children 10-15 £10
- Under 10’s – Free
- Parking – Free
- Motorcycles – £10 p/p
