Daniel Milner: “I wanna race in Europe…”

“At this stage I think I’ll definitely be coming to Europe in 2014. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do and my plan was always to win an Aussie title before trying to get a ride in Europe. Now that I’ve won the AORC title my main goal is to finalise a deal to race in Europe.
“I’m still young enough to race in the junior class of the world championship. I guess it won’t just be my decision to make but I could race in that class or in E2. Whatever I do it’ll be on a 450. I raced a 250f back home in Australia this year but I definitely prefer the 450. Racing against the guys I’ve been competing with here at the ISDE on a more regular basis would be great.
“Racing against guys like Antoine Meo and Alex Salvini in Sardinia has been amazing. I’d never met any of those guys before but we got on great. We talked each day and they were really friendly. They’ve got crazy skills on a bike as well. It helped make it such an awesome week. Those guys are so fast and smooth. Racing against them more often will definitely help me improve.
“The highlight of this year’s six days for me was winning the opening day. My goal was to get a top five result in the E2 class – to go on and win the first day outright and then finish top of the E2 class is incredible. I got a bit tired during the week and began to struggle as the days went on. I found the track we used on days four and five a little tough to get on with, but I didn’t make any major mistakes.
“The final motocross race didn’t go to plan, which is kind of disappointing. I got a good start, around fifth, but then lost the front end and was right at the back of the pack. Other than that it’s been a good week and its gone to plan. “As a nation Australia is getting stronger at the ISDE. The riders are getting better and better and as a team we’re becoming more competitive. We just have to keep at it. France are so strong but we want to win…”
