Dave Clarke Racing – CHOLMONDELEY PAGEANT OF POWER June 14th 15th 16th 2013
The much awaited 6th Pageant of Power took place on the 14th-16th June and the DCR team was invited to take part for the 3rd year running. The Pageant takes place in the grounds of the magnificent Cholmondeley Castle in Cheshire.
Everyone arrived on the Thursday evening ready for scrutineering and the practice runs on Friday. The always entertaining Richard Blakeman put on a show for the people in the pub, setting the mood for the weekend to come! Friday was wet and proved difficult to get good practice laps in. Saturday brought slightly better weather and we were joined by TV crew Reel to Reel who came along to film the Supermoto riders. Also Michelin head of two wheel department Ed Wilson, along with marketing manager James Dimmock and area manager Duncan Livingstone came along to support the team on Saturday and to take in the Cholmondeley experience. For the riders the course at Cholmondeley was a deviation from what they are used to, as they have to go out individually and ride a timed lap around the 1.2mile track, not set off against each other in a race. The organisers asked the team to do a few stunts in the afternoon before their last lap. They obliged and entertained the always big Cholmondeley crowds with their display of wheelies, stoppies and burnouts. Sunday brought warm sunny weather so it was slicks on, ready to go for the course lap record! This time the organisers asked the riders to perform the stunts before each of their three runs. The spectators loved seeing this as well as meeting the riders in the pits and in between runs. The team spent time showing off their bikes and letting kids sit on them as well as signing posters and giving out goodie bags. Christian Iddon once again led the Supermoto riders and also beat the course lap record set by Andy Mitchell in 2012. He finished 4th overall on the day out of all the bikes and cars. Many thanks to the CPOP organisers for inviting us to attend this fantastic event. Thanks to the riders and their families for coming and showcasing Supermoto so well and to Neil Jay for his help. As always a big thank you to all the sponsors that continue to support the DCR team.
Dave was asked to bring a team of Supermoto riders to take part and he chose the following team from past and present Supermoto riders pictured from left: Lewis Cornish, Richard Blakeman, Kev Drayton, Dave himself, Chris Hodgson, Davey Todd, Brian Spencer, Christian Iddon, Ross Gurd and Dean Wingate.
