First full race of 2013 at Oulton with the Michelin Power Cup
Power Cup 1,000cc
Greg Allsop (Yamaha) dominated the Michelin Power Cup 1000 class. He qualified on pole, with a lap one hundredth of a second quicker than Grant Wagstaff (Kawasaki). Allsop won the first race from Wagstaff by almost seven seconds, with Tony Keilty (Kawasaki) third over 15 seconds further back. Allsop won the second, again leading from start to finish and once more setting the fastest lap of the race and beating Keilty to the flag by almost 20 seconds. Wagstaff was forced to pull out of this race after just four of the seven laps after the steering damper broke. He tried to carry on, but quickly found that trying to race a big bike round the Cheshire circuit without one was unwise. Allsop, on 50 points leads Keilty by 14 points.
Power Cup 600cc
William White (Triumph 675) was in fine form in the Michelin Power Cup 600 races. He qualified on pole, just under two seconds a lap quicker than Wayne Humble (Yamaha), but in the race found Richard Charlton (Yamaha) hard to beat. At the flag White was less than a tenth of a second ahead of his rival after a race long battle. Humble was third, over 11 seconds further back. White not only won his class in race two, beating Charlton by just over four seconds, but was second home overall. White now leads Charlton by 50 points to 40.
