Michelin StarCross 6 Tyres

Launched in the Spring of 2022, the StarCross 6 tyre range is newly developed alongside pro riders. Whilst it still has similarities with the previous StarCross 5 range, it has some crucial updates, new tyre types and improvements which will upgrade your riding experience and improve performance.

The Michelin StarCross 6 range is ridden in both World and National Championships and is the first motocross tyre to include Silica technology.

There are a total of 9 tyres in the range which include improvements for disciplines for sand, mud, medium-soft, medium-hard and hard, which is an increase compared to the previous StarCross range.

Benefits of the Michelin StarCross 6 Range

1.

Better handling and improved traction

The tread block shapes have been altered on the SC 6 tyres and are now a bucket-shaped design which has resulted in improved traction.

2.

Multi-terrain tyres

With the added addition of Mud, Medium-Soft and Medium-Hard tyres, the StarCross 6 range now offers a tyre for all disciplines, improving performance on many terrains for the rider.

3.

Longer lasting

Following test rides comparing the SC 5 and SC 6 tyres, the Michelin Silica proved far less wearing than the previous black carbon rubber used on SC 5.

Faqs

Q: Will StarCross 5 still be available to buy?

A: For the time being, SC 5 will still be available until we run out of stock, after that period, we will be discontinuing the old SC 5 range and only stocking SC 6.

Q: Why is there no front Mud StarCross 6 tyre?

A: Simply put, you don’t need it. The StarCross 6 Medium/Soft and Sand front tyre will do the job!

Q: Can any brand of mousse be used with the new Michelin StarCross 6 tyres?

A: The simple answer is no! The internal structure of the new tyres is perfectly matched to the Michelin Bib Mousse range. The sizing varies massively in other brands of mousse which can dramatically affect the wear rate, performance and handling of the tyre. Michelin has spent countless hours developing the tyre and Mousse to work together as a package, so why would you fit a lesser quality performing Mousse.

Q: I don’t use Bib Mousse, can I still fit standard inner tubes?

A: Yes of course! We stock genuine Michelin heavy-duty tubes, or ultra heavy duty (UHD) 4mm thick tubes as an alternative to Bib Mousse. On Enduro medium tyres, using regular inner tubes is fine, but on the new Xtrem tyres, we recommend you use the appropriate Bib Mousse.

Q: Are the StarCross 6 tyres road legal?

A: No, they are not road legal, if you are looking for a road-legal MX/Enduro tyre, you may want to look at the Michelin Tracker range.

Q: Do the professional riders really use these exact tyres?

A: Yes, most definitely! The StarCross 6 range is born to be on podiums!
