MY RIDE – ALFREDO GOMEZ' HUSQVARNA FE 350

One of the most eye catching bikes during the SuperEnduro World Championship, Alfredo Gomez’ Husqvarna FE 350 was always immaculately turned out to every round of the series.
Enduro21.com takes a closer look at the bike that saw him place fifth overall in the series…

“Overall Alfredo’s FE 350 is very close to the standard production motorcycle. The frame and engine are stock and the biggest changes we’ve made are to the suspension and sub frame.
“Motor wise, Alfredo has more than enough power out of the standard 350cc engine for SuperEnduro but what we work a lot on is ensuring the power is delivered in the right place. It’s a very intense sport with lots of stop and go obstacles to negotiate.
“We’ve focused on the ECU engine mapping, making changes to get the power delivery in second and third gear much more responsive. We lose out on top end grunt as a result but for SuperEnduro that’s not really a problem.
“Internally we also run a Hinson clutch system. The basket has extra holes drilled in it to both reduce weight and allow the oil to flow more freely. The gearbox ratio is standard and six speed. Sprocket ratio is 14/50.
“FMF Racing provides the exhaust system. The header pipe is a little longer than standard and features their power bomb bulge, which again improves lowdown power. The silencer is the F4.1 with carbon tip.
“The forks are 48mm WP Cone Valve housed in Xtrig triple clamps and the rear shock is WP Traxx. Alfredo likes it set slightly stiffer to cope with the harsh hits of SuperEnduro.
“For Alfredo’s bike we’ve decided to use the CRM Karboframe sub frame. The MXGP teams used this setup during 2014. It’s about half a kilogram lighter than standard but stiffer and gives less flex.
“We run a Renthal Twinwall 996 handlebar with 165 carbon grips. Even though Alfredo has a trials background, his setup is quite neutral and nothing out of the ordinary. His foot pegs are a bit special. They are custom made by Spanish manufacture Hard Rock.
“GoldenTyre provide the grip. They offer lots of different tyre and moose compounds but generally we stick to the 532X.
“After that the major modifications are making sure it is well protected for SuperEnduro. Haan Wheels help soak up the hits and we run guards on the linkage, sump, front and rear discs, rear Brembo calliper, clutch and chain guide.
