Red Bull Sea to Sky – Beach Race: Qualification

Turkey’s tourist resort of Kemer awoke to the sound of engines this morning as qualification for the Red Bull Sea to Sky Beach Race took place. Working to a revised schedule for 2013, competitors faced two timed laps of the beach race course to determine the start list for the evening’s Beach Race final.
With the course dialled to perfection, KTM’s Jonny Walker ripped his way to the fastest time. He placed three seconds quicker than Husqvarna’s Andreas Lettenbichler in second position.
However, the race for the runner-up position was a much tighter affair with Lettenbichler and Alfredo Gomez (Husaberg) in fifth separated by a couple hundredths of a second.
Mexico’s Homero Diaz (KTM) was third fastest with Paul Bolton (Husaberg) in fourth.
Husaberg’s Graham Jarvis was 11th.
The real action begins at 16.00hrs Friday evening with the Beach Race final where riders will fight it out for victory over a 20 minute plus one lap race.
