Red Bull Sea to Sky – Day Zero

The calm before the storm – the Red Bull Sea to Sky kicked into gear today in Kemer, Turkey with Press Day. Not you average sort of press day – this is the Red Bull Sea to Sky after all.
Giving competitors a taste of what is awaiting them at the finish line on Sunday, everybody from riders, media, officials and local politicians rode the cable car to the summit of the 2365m high Olympus Mountain.
After the customary press conference, Graham Jarvis, Jonny Walker, Paul Bolton – last year’s top three – plus Alfredo Gomez, Andreas Lettenbichler, Xavi Galindo among others blasted a few runs up and down the final 100m stretch of the race.
For some it was a chance to ride a section of the course they may not get to see while the elite guys took it as a golden opportunity to suss out a clean run through the section that will ultimately decide the finishing order of the podium.
All in all it was a good display of riding with some trying to out do each other when it came to tackling nasty looking rock steps. Needless to say everyone was impressed watching the world’s best Hard Enduro riders do their thing – even the Russian tourists who accidently dropped in on the show!
Friday September 27 will see the Red Bull Sea to Sky get underway in earnest when 110 riders from 18 different countries battle it out at the Beach Race on the Kemer shoreline.
After two qualifications heats during the morning, the Beach Race final is scheduled to take place at 16.00hrs (local time).
