Team Park Lane IDS Transport KTM – Round 3 AMCA British Championship, Pontrilas
Last weekend the team travelled to Pontrilas for round 3 of the 2013 AMCA British Championship.
Unfortunately the racing was cut short due to dust, but both riders put in awesome performances which saw Carl on the podium and Scott grabbing 8th overall after 2 fantastic rides.
SCOTT BATES
11th / 5th / 8th Overall
Round 3 at Pontrilas was a hard gnarly track with the dust and hard ground. Unfortunately I had a poor start in race 1 which left me a lot to do. I managed to fight back to 11th and was pleased with the way I was riding. In race 2 I gated 10th and pulled through to end with a solid 5th place. It felt great to push hard and grab some decent points. I ended the day in 8th overall as the 3rd race was unfortunately cancelled!
CARL BENJAMIN
4th / 2nd / 3rd Overall
After a long break from round 2 of the AMCA Championships, the 3rd round was held last weekend at Pontrilas. Qualifying went well for me posting the 2nd fastest lap setting me up nicely for a good day. Race one came and dust was a bit of an issue so a good start was crucial. I came around the first corner in 10th spot but quickly fighting my way through the dust I ended up 6th in lap one. With eyes firmly set on moving forward I pushed hard and gained positions. I reeled in 3rd spot only to just lose out on the final lap placing me in 4th. Race 2 they held for a while whilst they put water on the circuit; so again the start was crucial! I gated 4th but swiftly moved to 2nd spot by lap 2 and there I pushed to chase the leader but unfortunately remained 2nd at the flag. After race 2 the event got cancelled due to dust which disappointed me as points were there to be taken! Finishing 4th and 2nd gave me 3rd step on the podium, so a very good point scoring day. I have now moved up to 4th in the overall championship standings also gaining points on 3rd spot. This coming weekend I have been asked to represent Great Britain in the IMBA at Long Lane!
