YOUNG READY TO DEFEND KING OF THE HILL CROWN

Wade Young aims to successfully defend his King of the Hill crown this weekend in Arad, Romania

Back in Europe – and in competitive action – having missed the recent Hell’s Gate and Tough One extreme enduros, Young is looking to make his ride in the King of the Hill a winning result.

Winner of the race in 2014, the young South African then went head to head with Paul Bolton but this year faces even stiffer competition as the event grows in popularity.

With a solid line up of riders entered, it’s rising extreme enduro star Mario Roman who aims to challenge Young for top honours.

Proving his worth with an impressive runner-up result to Jonny Walker in his debut ride at a notoriously difficult Hell’s Gate, Roman will be a rider to watch for during his first taste of Romanian extreme enduro.

Also making his debut ride at the King of the Hill, Beta’s Ben Hemingway is keen to mix it up at the sharp end of the results. Never one to count out, Hemingway – the most experience of the leading riders – will have a podium result in his sights.

Add in another South African Blake Gutzeit and Hungarian Kornel Nemeth taking in his first extreme enduro and the King of the Hill is definitely one to keep on your radar this weekend.

Racing kicks of with a prologue on Friday March 27. Saturday features an 80km long course of tough extreme enduro riding while Sunday’s action brings the event to a close with a three-hour extreme cross-country race.
